Invisalign clear aligners are designed to allow you to continue to live your life the way you want, while still providing the orthodontic treatment you require.
While your life will most likely not be drastically altered as a result of your orthodontic treatment, there are a few things to keep in mind. You will need to brush and floss your teeth more frequently, and you will need to keep your aligners safe when they are not in your mouth to keep them clean and fresh, so there are a few items you will need to carry with you throughout your treatment.
A pouch.
To begin, you'll require a pouch to hold all of your Invisalign maintenance items. It should be something tough that you can throw in your bag, backpack, desk, or locker. You'll also want the pouch to be zippered and have a water-resistant lining (for damp toothbrushes).
Your aligner case.
When not in use, your aligners should be cleaned and stored in their aligner case. Keep the case with you at all times so you can keep your aligners safe and clean while eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth.
Those who do not carry their aligner case with them have a higher chance of breaking or damaging their aligners, which will cause delays in treatment while you wait for the tray to be replaced.
Lip balm.
Maintain a supply of your favourite lip balm in your kit. Dry lips are common during orthodontic treatment, especially while you're getting used to wearing your aligners. Make sure you're ready so you don't have to deal with any additional discomfort.
Travel toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste.
When you remove your aligners to eat, you should brush and floss your teeth. You don't want food particles and debris stuck between your aligners and your teeth for the rest of the day, so brush and floss thoroughly before replacing your aligners.
“Outie” Aligner Removal Tool
Sometimes, your aligners will just be especially tight, particularly when you first switch over to a new set. This handy tool will help you detach your aligner from your teeth in these cases.
Mints or breath spray.
You can’t chew gum with your Invisalign aligners in place, so if you're concerned about having bad breath, mints or breath spray will help you feel more confident.
